Beatles soundtrack for movie 'All you need is love'
16th June 2005
All you need is love, a romantic musical set amid the Vietman War and the protests it sparked, has just licensed the rights to about 30 Beatles songs.
The $50-million movie from Revolution Studios, slated for release in 2006, is set to begin shooting on 7th September.
The movie won't be using original recordings of John, Paul, George and Ringo as the price would have been too high -- industry sources say that just licensing "Hey Jude" runs at around $500,000 -- instead, "a guy you never heard of before" will be singing the Beatles favourites according to co-producer Jennifer Todd.
The film's story revolves around a college-age English youth who travels to America to look for his Father. He becomes friends with a brother and sister, falling in love with the girl. The characters are named after characters in Beatles songs -- Lucy, Jude, and Max.
