The Greatest Tribute Concert Ever, Eridge Park

28th May 2005

Drove to Eridge Park, near Tunbridge Wells, picking up a couple of friends en route to see The Greatest Tribute Concert Ever, featuring Elvis (The way it was - Las Vegas revue), T-Rextasy, the Bootleg Beatles and Bjorn Again.

It was sunny but the wind was blowing up quite a breeze. We camped out down the front of the stage with a couple of beers (shielded from the sun's warmth by the shade of the stage) and then I spotted a couple of familiar faces from previous Bootlegs gigs and went for a chat.

First up in the line-up was Elvis who was quite fun and a good warm-up but it was disappointing that his entire set was done to a backing-track -- even the backing-singers were on tape. T-Rextasy were brilliant -- I spotted Danielz a mile off before he was in costume, what a likeness! (and what a showman!) -- but of course the Bootlegs Beatles were the stars of the show. Me? Biased? Never! There were no costume changes (because of the weather or time constraints?) but they did a cracking set and a good selection of songs. Then Bjorn Again came on and rocked the house to end the evening, including (rather bizarrely) a rendition of Bon Jovi's 'Living on a prayer'.
